Will Tidball: 2 Years Until 2024 Olympics in Paris

2022 here we are!!

This year is a big year for me and my development as a bike rider. As you know its only 2 years until the 2024 Olympics in Paris. This year is a building year towards that for our GB cycling team. With new riders moving up to fill the spots of ex Olympic champions and aim to replicate their achievements. My goal is to do exactly that. This year will be full of stepping stones for me to learn and develop to become the bike rider that can win an Olympic gold. I aim to compete in the Common wealth games held in London. This will be no easy test as I will have to prove myself against a more experienced team who went to the Olympics some even Winning Gold! However all can do is focus on me as I don’t control how others perform and develop. Personally I also want to prove myself on the road. Something that hasn’t come as easy to me as doing so on the track. If I do I hope to be riding for one of the worlds best teams in 2023.

This month in particular for me will involve building the fitness I will need for the fast approaching road season. Currently I am in Calpe Spain for 10 days with some kinder weather putting the hours in. I am training with a current olympic champion, two ex world champions and being coached by 3 times olympic gold medalist Ed Clancy. So I’m in the perfect group to help push me. Towards the end of the month I will be competing in Portugal on the track trying to secure some more UCI points which will enable me to ride bigger competitions during the season.

Christmas was brilliant. To see my family. I had COVID pre Christmas so I had a fair amount of time off the bike which is a shame but I was lucky to be able to spend more time with loved ones. Right now I am super motivated for 2022. I hope you are all too.
