Dry Needling for Verruca’s at The Fane Clinic
Dry Needling for Verruca’s in Peterborough
Dry needling is a very effective minor surgical procedure that involves the use of a very fine, sterile needle to puncture the verruca several times under local anesthetic. The purpose of this is to disrupt each individual papillae in the veruca in order to initiate an immune response so that the body can recognise and destroy the virus.
One huge advantage of dry needling over other treatments is that usually, only one session of treatment is needed.
The success rate of dry needling to treat verruca’s is very high compared to other treatment methods. Whilst freezing (Cryo-Surgery) and caustic agents (Bazuka) have a very low success rate – somewhere in the region of 15%, dry needling has a proven success rate of around 73%.

FAQs:
How long till the anaesthetic completely wears off after the dry needling procedure?
Usually 3 – 4 hours
Can I take any painkillers after the dry needling procedure?
Yes. Paracetamol is allowed. However, try to avoid anti-inflammatories e.g., Ibuprofen, as we are trying to promote an inflammatory response. It is also best to avoid drugs which thin the blood, like aspirin, for 72 hours before and 24 hours after the procedure. If you are taking this for a medical reason, please discuss with your GP before stopping.
Will I be able to drive home after the dry needling procedure?
We advise against driving, your foot will still be quite numb and therefore you are unlikely to be covered by your car insurance.
Will I be able to wear my shoes after the dry needling procedure?
As the dressing and padding may be thick, we advise wearing flip flops or sandals to you and from your appointment.
